The present disclosure provides systems and methods for determining one or more false action events. The method includes generating, using a motion planning module, an initial planned trajectory of the autonomous vehicle for an initial trajectory period, and generating, using the motion planning module, a subsequent planned trajectory of the autonomous vehicle for a subsequent trajectory period. Each of the initial planned trajectory and the subsequent planned trajectory includes a series of planned steering wheel angles over a period of time and a steering wheel angle change rate over the period of time. The method further includes identifying one or more first false action event qualifiers and one or more second false action event qualifiers, and identifying one or more false action events, where each false action event is associated with a time interval, the first false action event definer and the second false action event definer occur within a time interval within a threshold length of time to each other.
