The invention relates to a system and method for predicting and displaying side blind area entry alerts. The system and method predicts entry of a target vehicle into a side blind spot of an ADAS-equipped vehicle and displays a real-time alert to inform an operator or occupant of the ADAS-equipped vehicle of predicted entry of the target vehicle into the side blind spot. The system includes an external sensor, an internal sensor, an augmented reality rearview mirror, and a module. The module is configured to detect an object behind the ADAS-equipped vehicle, predict a path of the object, determine a probability that the predicted path of the object will enter a side blind spot of the vehicle, and determine that the object enters the side blind spot of the vehicle when the probability exceeds a predetermined threshold.
