The invention discloses a charging station and a control method of the charging station, and belongs to the technical field of charging stations. The charging station includes: a transformer; the plurality of direct current charging piles are electrically connected with the transformer, the plurality of alternating current charging piles are electrically connected with the transformer, the sum of rated output power of the plurality of direct current charging piles is first target power, and the sum of rated output power of the plurality of alternating current charging piles is second target power; the rated output power of the transformer is smaller than the sum of the first target power and the second target power; and the station control system is electrically connected with the plurality of direct current charging piles and the plurality of alternating current charging piles, and the station control system is used for controlling the current output power of the plurality of direct current charging piles based on the current output power of the plurality of alternating current charging piles and the rated output power of the transformer. The charging station solves the problem that the number of the charging piles matched with the parking space is insufficient, the charging requirement of a user is met, and the charging waiting time is shortened.
