The invention relates to a control method for cooling powertrain components. The control method includes, in response to a destination being input to a navigation device, determining an estimated high-load driving timing of a powertrain component based on estimated driving information of a vehicle, and in response to determining that a temperature difference between an actual temperature and a reference temperature of the powertrain component prior to the estimated high load travel timing is below or equal to a pre-cooling operating value, pre-cooling the powertrain component by controlling operation of each component of the powertrain cooling system, and until the actual temperature of the power assembly component reaches the target temperature.
