The hoisting device of the elevator comprises a main body; a shaft part protruding from the main body; a bearing disposed around the shaft portion; a rotating member that rotates about a shaft portion; and a sheave that rotates integrally with the rotating member, the main body having: a cylindrical portion; an annular bottom part protruding from the inner peripheral surface of the cylindrical part; a connecting portion protruding from an inner bottom surface of the bottom portion and connected to the shaft portion; and a stator fixed to the inner circumferential surface of the cylindrical portion, the rotating member having: a bearing fitting portion fitted to the bearing; a cylindrical rotor portion extending from the bearing fitting portion toward the inner bottom surface of the bottom portion and disposed with a gap from the inner peripheral surface of the stator; a cylindrical oil trap part extending from the top end of the rotor part toward the inner bottom surface of the bottom part; and a brake action portion disposed on the outer peripheral side of the rotor portion, the oil trap portion having an inner peripheral surface that expands in diameter as the oil trap portion approaches the inner bottom surface of the bottom portion.
