The invention relates to a method (100) for controlling a driving assistance system (1a) or a system (1b) for at least partially automated driving, comprising the following steps: providing (110) measurement data (51a) which characterize a traffic situation (51) of a vehicle (50); ascertaining (120) a plurality of candidate responses (2a-2c) to the traffic situation (51), the candidate responses (2a-2c) each comprising an actuation of the driving assistance system (1a) or of a system (1b) for at least partially automated driving or a suppression of an actuation of this type; ascertaining (130) an evaluation value (3a-3c) for each of the candidate responses (2a-2c) taking into account a distribution V ([tau]) of response times [tau] of a driver of the vehicle (50), said evaluation value indicating a risk tendency of the development of the traffic situation (51) after the respective candidate response (2a-2c); selecting (140) one of the candidate reactions (2a-2c) as a reaction (4) to be carried out, taking into account the evaluation values (3a-3c); and actuating (150) the driving assistance system (1a) or the system (1b) for at least partially automated driving in such a way that the driving assistance system (1a) or the system (1b) for at least partially automated driving carries out the selected reaction (4).
