The invention relates to a flight safety monitoring system and method for an aircraft. The system comprises: a multi-source information sensing module configured to sense in-cabin environment information and unit call information of each cabin of the aircraft, and operation state information of each system of the aircraft; the abnormal state detection module is configured to detect an abnormal state based on the in-cabin environment information of each cabin of the aircraft, the unit call information and the operation state information of each system of the aircraft sensed by the multi-source information sensing module; and the air-ground data transmission module is configured to initiate downloading of corresponding onboard data according to the abnormal state detected by the abnormal state detection module.
