The invention relates to a protection device for a high-voltage battery in an electrified motor vehicle, comprising a display and an electronic control unit, which is designed in such a way that the high-voltage battery is electrically connected to the display. The electronic control unit determines a predicted first aging state of the high-voltage battery and a predicted second aging state of the high-voltage battery on the basis of the defined parameters and outputs said states on a display in the form of two separate indications. The predicted first aging state is determined on the basis of past usage behavior. The predicted second aging state is determined on the basis of the assumption that at least one predetermined use suggestion (preferably all predetermined use suggestions) is followed in the future.
