The invention relates to a semiconductor fuse device (200) for safely disconnecting an electrical appliance (112) from a power supply (111) of a battery-powered vehicle. The semiconductor safety device (200) comprises a semiconductor switching element (211) which can be switched between a power supply (111) and an electric device (112). The semiconductor switching element (211) has a gate control interface (212) for switching on and off a power path (130) of the semiconductor switching element (211). The semiconductor fuse device (200) further comprises: a drive circuit (221), which is designed to apply a drive voltage (223) to the gate control interface (212) of the semiconductor switching element (211), which drive voltage is less than a predetermined gate threshold voltage of the semiconductor switching element (211); a detection circuit (222) designed to determine a resistance of the power path (130) of the at least one semiconductor switching element (211) and to detect a drift of the gate threshold voltage on the basis of the resistance of the power path (130); a controller (220) designed to indicate a failure of the at least one semiconductor switching element when a drift of the gate threshold voltage is detected.
