A pallet handling system (1) is disclosed comprising a pallet rack (2) having three support members (3, 4, 5) parallel to a longitudinal direction of the three support members (3, 4, 5) wherein each of the three support members (3, 4, 5) comprises one or more substantially horizontal upper support surfaces (6). The three support members (3, 4, 5) are connected to one or more support structures (7) arranged for suspending the three support members (3, 4, 5) above a ground level (20) wherein the three support members (3, 4, 5) comprise a first support member (3), a second support member (4) and a third support member (5), a second support part (4) of the three support parts is arranged between the first support part and the third support part (5). The second support part (4) is formed as a rod having a second support connection end (8) connected to at least one of the one or more support structures (7) and a second support free end (9), and wherein the width (SSW) of the second support part (4) is between 140 mm and 5 mm, and preferably between 120 mm and 20 mm. The pallet handling system (1) further comprises an automated guided vehicle (10) comprising a pallet lifting device (11) having at least two upper lifting surfaces (12, 13), where the at least two upper lifting surfaces (12, 13) are separated along an intermediate portion of the pallet lifting device (11) by a slit (14) such that the at least two upper lifting surfaces (12, 13) are spaced apart by the slit (14) along the intermediate portion of the pallet lifting device (11). A first upper lifting surface (12) of the at least two upper lifting surfaces (12, 13) is adapted between the first support part (3) and the second support part (4), and such that a second upper lifting surface (13) of the at least two upper lifting surfaces (12, 13) is adapted between the second support part (4) and the third support part (5), and wherein the slit (14) is arranged to receive the second support part (4). A method for handling a tray (21) is also disclosed.
