The invention relates to a material collection container (01) of a suction excavator. The material collection container extends in the longitudinal direction of the suction excavator and comprises a container wall (02) which is closed at both end faces thereof by end walls. The lid (06) is pivotably mounted on the lid shaft such that the material collection container is closed on the upper side in the closed position and is opened in the emptying position. Furthermore, the material collecting container has a seal (07) which, in a closed position, extends between an upper rim (08) of the material collecting container and the lid such that, in the closed position, the seal closes off the material collecting container so that a negative pressure can be generated in the container. The material collection container has a substantially u-shaped cross-section. The container wall has a plurality of side section surfaces (09) extending in the longitudinal direction, which side section surfaces are fused to one another at the reinforcing edges. At least some of the side section faces are angled to each other. The chamfered upper edge (08) is designed as a hollow profile. The sealing element (07) engages in a groove (12) on the side of the cover (06) facing the upper edge (08). The invention also relates to a suction excavator having such a material collection container.
