The invention relates to an electric vehicle charging power adjusting system and method. The system comprises a charging pile, a charging gun, a communication line, a power adjusting module, a relay and a router. The charging gun is connected with the charging pile through a communication line; the power adjusting module comprises a signal input interface, a signal output interface and a network port, the signal input interface is connected to one end, close to the charging pile, of the communication line through a line, the signal output interface is connected to one end, close to the charging gun, of the communication line through a relay, and the network port is connected to the router; the router is used for being connected to a cloud end and receiving a regulation and control instruction sent by the cloud end. The adjusting system can improve the rationality of the charging power applied to the electric vehicle by the charging pile, and therefore large fluctuation of the power grid load is avoided.
