The invention belongs to the technical field of vehicle-mounted air conditioners, and particularly relates to a vehicle-mounted air conditioner and a control method thereof.The vehicle-mounted air conditioner comprises a shell, an evaporator and a radiator, and the evaporator and the radiator are both installed in the shell, connected with a cold source and a heat source correspondingly and used for refrigerating or heating correspondingly; meanwhile, flow direction adjusting devices are arranged in the evaporator and the radiator and used for adjusting the flowing mode of the cold source in the evaporator or the flowing mode of the heat source in the radiator according to the temperature in the automobile; wherein the flowing modes of the cold source in the evaporator and the heat source in the radiator comprise a powerful mode, a common mode and an energy-saving mode; by changing the flowing mode of the cold source in the evaporator, namely, the refrigerating effect of the evaporator is reduced, and air flow is prevented from being overcooled when the compressor is started, so that a user can change the air flow temperature without frequently adjusting the set temperature of the air conditioner, the working efficiency of the compressor is prevented from being frequently adjusted, and the service life of the compressor is prolonged.
