The pyrotechnic actuator (1) comprises a tubular housing (2) and an ignition device (21), and a piston with a piston block (4a) and a piston rod (4). The piston block (4a) is moved within the housing (2) from an initial position to an end position by an ignition device (21). An integrated sealing element (5) is arranged at the end, away from the ignition device (21), of the shell (2) and located between the piston rod (4) and the shell (2). The piston rod (4) penetrates through the sealing element (5), a step (14) is formed in the area, and the outer diameter (13) on the side away from the ignition device (21) is smaller than the outer diameter (12) on the side close to the ignition device (21). The sealing element (5) is provided with a corresponding step (27) which is arranged on the step (14) of the piston rod (4), and sealing is achieved through axial preloading. When the actuator is triggered, the sealing element (5) is torn.
