A cloud control center positions a water area needing to be sampled and sends the water area to a main control module; the main control module sends water area positioning to the navigation module, and the navigation module sets a driving path of the sampling ship according to the current water area condition; the sampling ship leaves the buoy, and the driving structure drives the sampling ship to move to the sampling water area along the driving path and then stop; the sonar structure is started, captures the seabed condition of the water area where the current sampling ship is located, measures the current water area depth and sends the current water area depth to the sonar processing module; the sampler is driven to sample ocean bottom mud, and then the sampling module controls a pay-off unit to wind a sampling rope; and after sampling is completed, the navigation module returns to the buoy according to the driving path. According to the ocean bottom mud sampling method, the sampling ship can be controlled to automatically travel to the sampling point for sampling, and can automatically return and store the sample in the buoy after the sampling is completed, so that a worker can go to the buoy for sampling, and the sampling convenience and efficiency are improved.
