The invention provides an automatic headlamp adjusting method and device, and the method comprises the steps: 1, completing the initialization of a system, and determining the initial pose of a carrier coordinate system; step 2, acquiring a first vector from the position of the IMU sensor to the position of the headlamp beam emitter in the initial pose of the carrier coordinate system; 3, resolving a second vector from the position of the IMU sensor to the position of the headlamp beam emitter in the current pose of the carrier coordinate system; and 4, respectively adjusting the front, right and lower rotation angles of the headlamp beam emitter in the carrier coordinate system according to the second vector, and completing the adaptive adjustment of the headlamp. According to the invention, the light beam of the vehicle headlamp can obtain the optimal irradiation range under various road conditions, and the driving safety is improved.
