The invention discloses an elevator transmission system which comprises a transmission motor, a transmission shaft and a clutch connected between the transmission motor and the transmission shaft, a winding drum is installed on the transmission shaft, a braking mechanism for braking the transmission shaft is further arranged on the transmission shaft, and braking points of the braking mechanism are arranged at the two ends of the winding drum. According to the elevator transmission system, the transmission motor can be adjusted to be in an idling rotation state in advance through the clutch before winding is prepared, the response time is shortened, and therefore the elevator transmission system can rapidly enter a working state when lifting is needed, the working efficiency is improved, when the clutch is separated, the winding drum can be stably braked, and the service life of the elevator is prolonged. Therefore, a guarantee is provided in the aspect of safety.
