The invention relates to the technical field of ships, and particularly discloses a stern shaft mounting method and a ship, and the stern shaft mounting method comprises the following steps: S10, manufacturing a stern shaft tube at the stern of the ship at a platform stage; s20, whether the deformation of the stern shaft tube is affected by the uncompleted machining technology near the stern shaft tube or not is judged, if yes, S21 is executed, and if not, S30 is executed; s21, executing a machining process which is not completed near the stern shaft tube and affects deformation of the stern shaft tube, and executing S30; s30, the shafting center line of the stern shaft tube is determined through stay wire irradiation; s40, boring the stern shaft tube; s50, the ship is transported to a dock, and a stern shaft tube bearing is installed in a stern shaft tube; and S60, the stern shaft is installed on a stern shaft tube bearing. By manufacturing the stern shaft tube in the platform stage, boring the stern shaft tube and completing the installation work of the stern shaft in the dock stage, favorable conditions are created for improving the integrity of a cabin before the ship is undocked, a foundation is laid for immediately hoisting a main engine after floating, carrying out shafting centering in the dock and carrying out main engine oil feeding work, and the building efficiency of the ship is improved.
