The invention relates to a device for locating secondary nodes of a vehicle, comprising a primary node and n secondary nodes, where n = 2 to N, N is an integer, connected together by at least two sub-networks, each sub-network comprising m secondary nodes, where m = 1 to M, M is an integer, characterized in that each sub-network comprises a terminal secondary node located at the end of each sub-network, (a)-the primary node is configured to be connected to at least one of the two sub-networks and comprises a primary electronic control unit configured to, during a learning phase:-activate power supply to one of the at least two sub-networks and deactivate power supply to the other sub-network,-receive a presence message from a secondary node of the activated sub-network, the presence message comprises a unique identifier associated with each secondary node,-identifying the terminal secondary node of the activated sub-network by means of a field of its unique identifier,-locating the terminal secondary node in the activated sub-network by means of the architecture of the activated sub-network,-if n = 2 or 3,-if n = 2 or 3, identifying the terminal secondary node of the activated sub-network by means of the field of its unique identifier. Determining, according to the architecture of the vehicle network, the locations of other secondary nodes of the vehicle network, if ngt; 3:-sending a command to the terminal secondary node so that it performs a measurement of the distance between itself and the other secondary node of one of the at least two sub-networks,-receiving the distances and comparing them with each other,-determining the position of the other secondary node as a function of the architecture of the activated sub-network and the comparison.
