A suppression signal (I1) is output by a central control unit (34) of the vehicle (1) to a first group (G1) of a first number of insulation monitors in a first time period ([Delta] T1), the first group comprising at least one first insulation monitor (32a), the insulation monitors (32a, 32c-32i) of the first group (G1) are configured such that the insulation measurements (Ma) by the one or more insulation monitors (32a, 32c-32i) of the first group (G1) are completely stopped during a first time period ([delta] T1), and wherein the insulation monitors (32a, 32c-32i) of the first group (G1) are stopped during the first time period ([delta] T1). An insulation measurement (Mb) is at least temporarily performed on at least one insulation stage (30b) of the second number of insulation stages by means of at least one second insulation monitor (32b) that does not belong to the first group (G1).
