The invention relates to a retraction actuator assembly, a landing gear assembly, and a method of kneeling an aircraft landing gear assembly. A retraction actuator assembly for a landing gear assembly of an aircraft includes a retraction actuator and a kneeling stop assembly. The retraction actuator includes an actuator housing and a piston. The actuator housing includes a cylinder barrel along a longitudinal axis. The piston is disposed within the cylinder barrel and is configured to move within the cylinder barrel. The cylinder barrel defines a piston stroke having an extended piston position and a retracted piston position. The kneeling stop assembly is secured to the actuator housing. The kneeling stop assembly is configured to selectively establish a kneeling stop position within the cylinder barrel to reduce the piston stroke by inhibiting movement of the piston to the retracted piston position. The landing gear assembly includes the retraction actuator, the kneeling stop assembly, a trailing arm, and a shock absorber. A method of kneeling a landing gear assembly of an aircraft is also provided.
