In one aspect, the invention relates to a tire comprising a circumferential tread portion and an inner surface partially surrounding a tire cavity, and a circumferential sealant layer disposed at least partially on the inner surface radially below the tread portion. Further, the tire includes a first conductive layer at least partially covering a surface of the sealant layer, and a second conductive layer non-conductively separated from the first conductive layer. A sensor system of the tire is in electrical contact with the first and second electrically conductive layers, respectively, wherein the sensor system is further configured to detect an increase in conductivity or a short circuit between the first and second electrically conductive layers.
