The invention provides a drone for route marking. An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is disclosed. The UAV may include a UAV transceiver configured to receive route information associated with a route. The UAV may also include a UAV processor, which may be configured to obtain the route information from the UAV transceiver. In response to obtaining the route information, the UAV processor may determine a UAV location in the route and identify a route marker near the UAV location from a plurality of route markers based on the route information. The UAV processor may then determine navigation instructions associated with the route markings for a vehicle to navigate the route based on the route information. The UAV may be configured to move near a front of the vehicle and display the navigation instructions.
