The invention discloses airport congestion monitoring. An apparatus for airport congestion monitoring includes one or more processors configured to obtain historical data corresponding to historical usage metrics for a particular airport from one or more global data sources associated with aircraft traffic. The one or more processors are configured to process the historical usage metrics to generate a distribution model associated with usage of the particular airport. The one or more processors are configured to obtain data corresponding to a current usage metric for a particular airport from one or more global data sources. The one or more processors are further configured to determine a degree of airport congestion for the particular airport based on the distribution model and a current usage metric for the particular airport.
