The invention discloses a protection device and method for a mine shaft tower. The protection device comprises the shaft tower and a hanging scaffold lifting device. A hanging scaffold lifting device used for lifting a hanging scaffold is installed on the shaft tower, and conical barrels are symmetrically and fixedly installed on the upper side and the lower side of the hanging scaffold. The pithead anti-falling mechanism is installed in a mine, and the pithead protection mechanism is installed on the ground. The adjustable air supply assembly is installed on the ground and the inner wall of a mine. The pithead anti-falling mechanism comprises receding assemblies, protective net assemblies and reset assemblies, the multiple receding assemblies are evenly installed on the inner wall of the mine in a circumferential array mode at equal intervals, the protective net assemblies are installed on the receding assemblies, and the reset assemblies are installed on the receding assemblies; the pithead protection mechanism comprises a fixed fence, a first blocking assembly, a second blocking assembly and a blocking assembly, the fixed fence, the first blocking assembly and the second blocking assembly are installed on the ground, and the blocking assembly is installed on the lower side of the first blocking assembly. In this way, personnel or heavy objects are prevented from falling into the mine.
