The invention discloses a clockwork spring type tensioning device which comprises a tensioning wheel connected with a speed governor rope wheel through a speed governor steel wire rope and further comprises a support installed on a guide rail, a clockwork spring assembly and a stroke plate moving in the vertical direction are installed on the support, one end of the stroke plate is connected to the periphery of the clockwork spring assembly in a meshed mode, and the other end of the stroke plate is connected with the speed governor rope wheel in a meshed mode. The tensioning wheel is rotationally connected to the other end of the stroke plate, and the clockwork spring assembly can move the stroke plate to enable the tensioning wheel to provide tension for the speed limiter steel wire rope.
