The invention provides a sharp turn road section traffic safety risk assessment method, and the method comprises the steps: constructing a spatial range, limited by a rectangular region, of a sharp turn road section based on the coordinates of the starting point, the midpoint and the end point of the sharp turn road section; acquiring test data including the starting point, the midpoint and the end point of the sharp turn road section; wherein the test data comprises positioning time, position coordinates and instantaneous speed; selecting test data in the spatial range of the sharp turn road section, and calculating the average acceleration of the sharp turn road section based on the selected test data; and based on the average acceleration, according to a preset safety risk threshold, judging the safety risk level of the sharp turn road section. The assessment method is simple and easy to implement, low in cost and high in reliability, and the traffic safety risk level of the sharp turn road section can be assessed only by collecting the position coordinates of the starting point, the midpoint and the end point of the sharp turn road section and real vehicle test data.
