The invention relates to a steering actuator of a steering system (10) of a vehicle, having an electric drive motor (46), a gear device (60), which has at least one gear stage (63) and a plurality of gear components (65, 67), wherein, during operation, the two gear components (65, 67) rotate at mutually different speeds on account of a transmission ratio, and a steering angle measuring device (80) for detecting a steering angle of two wheels (12, 14) to be steered over the entire adjustment range (VB), comprising a first position sensor (82), by means of which the angular position of a first gear component (67) can be determined and which provides a primary track signal profile (SV1) over the entire adjustment range (VB) of the wheels (12, 14) to be steered, a second position sensor (84), by means of which the angular position of a second gear component (65) can be determined and which provides a secondary track signal profile (SV2) over the entire adjustment range (VB) of the wheels (12, 14) to be steered, and an evaluation device (86), which has a Nonius algorithm for determining the steering angle of the wheels (12, 14) from the sensor signals from the first position sensor (82) and from the second position sensor (84).
