An object of the present invention is to provide an inner liner for a pneumatic tire that is excellent in melt moldability and consequently has superior gas barrier properties, and is capable of maintaining characteristics such as gas barrier properties even when used with deformation such as stretching or flexion. Other object is to provide a method for producing an inner liner having such characteristics, while preventing an increase in production costs. Provided is an inner liner for a pneumatic tire including no less than 8 resin-layers, the resin-layer having a layer A constituted with a resin composition containing a resin having gas barrier properties, and a layer B that is adjacent to the layer A and is constituted with a resin composition containing an elastomer, an extensional viscosity · A of the resin composition of the layer A, and an extensional viscosity · B of the resin composition of the layer B as determined at a predetermined temperature both being no less than 1,000 Pa·s, and an extensional viscosity ratio · A /· B being no less than 0.2 and no greater than 10.
