Hybrid propulsion engines (400, 500) for aircraft (100) are described herein. An example hybrid propulsion engine (400, 500) includes a propulsor and a gas turbine engine (402, 502) to drive the propulsor during a first mode of operation. The gas turbine engine (402, 502) has a core air intake (424, 514). The hybrid propulsion engine (400, 500) also includes an electric motor (406, 506) to drive the propulsor during a second mode of operation and a damper (900, 1000) disposed in the core air intake (424, 514) of the gas turbine engine (402, 502) to block airflow through the core air intake (424, 514) during the second mode of operation.
