The present invention relates to a transmission assembly (200) for cycles (100) comprising: – electric motor (110) comprising an output shaft (112), – a gearbox (1, 1') extending about a central axis (∆) and comprising: – at least one first epicyclic gear set (T1, T1') referred to as the input gear set and a second epicyclic gear set (T3, T2') referred to as the output gear set, an epicyclic gear set comprising: – a plurality of sun gears (11, 12, 17, 18, 22, 23) and, – a plurality of planet gears (13, 14, 19, 20, 24, 25) associated with each sun gear (11, 12, 17, 18, 22, 23), said pluralities of planet gears (13, 14, 19, 20, 24, 25) being mounted on a planet carrier (15, 26) and, – a ring gear (16, 21, 27) that is configured to mesh with the planet gears (13, 14, 19, 20, 24, 25) associated with one sun gear (11, 12, 17, 18, 22, 23), in which the ring gear (27) of the output gear set (T3, T2') is intended to be coupled in rotation with a wheel of the cycle (100), in which the output shaft (112) of the electric motor (110) is coupled to the gearbox (1) at the ring gear (27) of the output gear set (T3, T1').
