The invention relates to a method for controlling a pneumatic suspension system of a vehicle, the vehicle having: a front axle and at least one rear axle; air springs arranged at each of the axles on both sides, respectively; a valve device having a shut-off valve associated with each of the air springs, an air inlet/outlet valve arranged in front of a combination of the grouped shut-off valves, and a sensor device for measuring the respective chassis height and the respective bellows pressure, wherein the bellows pressure at the front axle is compared, and when the bellows pressure difference of the bellows pressure of the front axle exceeds a predetermined pressure difference tolerance, a balancing of the bellows pressure difference at the front axle is carried out in such a way that the air spring of the front axle having a higher bellows pressure and the air spring of the rear axle arranged diagonally opposite thereto are vented; the air spring of the front axle, which has a lower bellows pressure, and the air spring of the rear axle, which is arranged diagonally opposite thereto, are inflated.
