The invention relates mainly to a method for diagnosing the operation of a cooling circuit (10) for cooling at least one battery (15) of a rotating electrical machine (17) for a motor vehicle, the cooling circuit (10) comprising, in particular, a heat exchanger (11) and a pump (13) for circulating a cooling liquid in the cooling circuit, characterised in that the method comprises: - a step of measuring a temperature of the cooling liquid in the cooling circuit (10), - a step of determining a temperature threshold, - a step of monitoring, by comparing the temperature of the cooling liquid with the temperature threshold, - and, if the temperature of the cooling liquid exceeds the temperature threshold, the method comprises a step of triggering a degraded mode of operation.
