To provide a simple and inexpensive means capable of achieving effective thawing of ice on a cover glass of an illumination device for an automobile, which does not lead to undesired local variations in temperature dependence of light distribution.SOLUTION: In the present invention, a cover glass 12 can be heated. To achieve heating of the cover glass 12 as uniformly as possible, the cover glass 12 in a beam path 19 includes a conductive layer 26 having at least one nanotube formed of a conductive material. A voltage U is applied to the layer 26 at least temporarily, and an electric current I flows through the layer 26. As a result, this layer 26 is heated uniformly, and the heat of the layer 26 heats the cover glass 12.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
