A virtual manual transmission system for an electric vehicle (Ve) for simulating the behavior of a vehicle having a manual transmission by controlling a motor (1) while protecting an electric storage device (3). A controller (11) is configured to: change torque of the motor (1) when a virtual manual shifting is executed by operating a clutch device (18, 20), an accelerator device (12, 13), and a shifting device (17); and reduce a regulation on a change rate of the torque of the motor (1) or an input/output power to/from the electric storage device (3).
