When a manifold catalytic converter (6), which is a catalytic converter above an exhaust passage (5), is warmed, a control unit (9) controls energizing of an electric heater (8) of the manifold catalytic converter (6) and/or driving of an internal combustion engine (1) in accordance with a battery SOC of a battery (3). This makes it possible in a hybrid vehicle to warm the manifold catalytic converter (6) using an amount of electric power consumed by motoring of an electric motor (2), and generally to shorten a time taken to drive the internal combustion engine (1) for catalyst warming.
