The invention relates to a pneumatic vehicle tyre with a tread region (1), sidewall regions (8), a carcass insert (3) consisting of at least one ply of reinforcing supports embedded in a carcass rubber lining, with bead regions having bead cores (5) and rim contact regions, and with sheet materials (10) made of textile fibres as abrasion-resistant plies arranged as the outermost plies on the sidewall regions (8), wherein a coating (11) containing hard material particles is applied at least to the outer side of the fibres of the abrasion-resistant plies, and wherein the textile sheet materials (10) each have a central layer section (10a), a radially outer edge section (10b) and a radially inner edge section (10c), wherein the radially outer edge sections (10b) extend into the tread region (1) on the shoulder side and the radially inner edge sections (10c) extend into the bead regions or into the rim contact regions. The radially outer edge sections (10b) of the textile sheet material (10) are free of the coating (11) or have end sections that are free of the coating (11) and are vulcanised into the tread region (1) like this, wherein the coating (11) is applied respectively at least to a portion of the central layer section (10a) of the textile sheet material (10).
