A system is provided for an aircraft. This aircraft system includes a powertrain (10) and a first lubrication system (78). The powertrain (10) includes a powerplant (56), a bladed rotor (18, 36) and a clutch system (60) operatively coupling the powerplant (56) to the bladed rotor (18, 36). The powerplant (56) is configured to drive rotation of the bladed rotor (18, 36) through the clutch system (60) when the clutch system (60) is engaged. The first lubrication system (78) is fluidly coupled with and is configured to deliver first lubricant to the powerplant (56) and the clutch system (60).
