The invention relates to a method for controlling a hybrid drive train (10) of a motor vehicle. While an energy recovery strategy is implemented via a mechanical torque transmission passing through the first partial gearbox (13.1) associated with the first clutch (K1) and the second clutch (K2) is controlled in a sliding manner, and the connection and disconnection clutch (K0) of the heat engine is in a closed state, upon detecting a request to change the pre-selected gear ratio, the method comprises: - a step of opening the second clutch (K2) and the connection and disconnection clutch (K0) of the heat engine (11), - a step of preselecting a target gear ratio in the second partial gearbox(13.2), and - a step of sliding the second clutch (K2) and a step of closing the clutch (K0) of the heat engine.
