In the design of drive trains for lift systems, an advantageous balance between necessary resources and achievable technical (power) data is desirable. In particular, in drive trains with a belt drive, the shaft interacting with at least one belt in a drive zone requires constructional optimisation in order to be able to utilise improvement potential in terms of other components in the drive train. According to the invention, the shaft has at least one section bordering the drive zone with a diameter depending on the drive zone diameter, wherein the drive zone diameter is greater than this section by an advantageous factor. In this way, a particularly advantageous sizing can be achieved based on an interdependency between the diameters, in particular in terms of an optimum relating to both the material processing requirements and smallest possible dimensions, wherein, on this basis, the respective drive train can be easily designed for different applications.
