A motor vehicle 1 is disclosed having a combustion engine 5 and an integrated starter-generator 10 drivingly connected to a crankshaft of the combustion engine 5 by a belt drive 12. Operation of the combustion engine 5 and the integrated starter-generator 10 is controlled by an electronic controller 20 in response to a number of inputs 25. The electronic controller 20 is arranged to use the combustion engine 5 and the integrated starter-generator 10 to actively reduce driveline shuffle in one of three predefined shuffle reduction modes that are selected by the electronic controller 20 based upon at least the current rotational speed of the combustion engine 5.
