An electrical energy generating device for a vehicle (e.g. an electric car), the device having a housing 5 for a turbine arrangement 66 and an air inlet 4, 10 to the housing. The inlet is secured to the underside of the vehicle by securement means (e.g. a support plate 11) and is formed by two parallel planar faces which define a narrowing internal volume which directs airflow towards the turbine arrangement. The turbine arrangement is configured to turn a generator mechanism 65 (e.g. a dynamo). The device may be mounted between the rear and front bumpers of the vehicle (Figure 5c) and have an axis of rotation elevated above the air inlet. The device may have a particulate filter 1 positioned over the inlet and the inlet may have a splitter part (12, Figure 4) which splits the airflow into two ducts.
