A garment hanger system (2, Fig 1a) allowing garment hangers (10, Figs 1a, 1b) to be moved between different locations within an area such as a warehouse or a transportable storage area. System (2) includes a substantially U-shaped guiderail 4 on which hangers (10) are located and can be moved along a linear path (5). Guide rail 4 has a plurality of carriages 16 which freely move there along and each have a body 18 with an upper surface having at least one protrusion 20. A first set of guide wheels / rollers22, 22’ extend from opposing sides of each carriage 16to rotate about axes (25, 25’, Fig 2e). A further wheel/ roller (29) extends from body 18 so that opposing sides (31, 31’) of roller 29 extend outwardly from body 18. Wheels 22, 22’ contact inner face 27 of guide rail 4. Protrusion 20 extends through gap 32 in guide rail 4, engaging with hanger head (12),
