A computer-implemented method comprises receiving 710 vehicle data (610, fig. 6) from a vehicle (100, fig. 1) indicative of one or more vehicle parameters (611, 612, fig. 6), e.g. a state or fault of a vehicle component, obtaining 720 vehicle usage data (620, fig. 6), e.g. historic use patterns or amounts, indicative of one or more attributes of a usage pattern of the vehicle, determining 730, using a model (420, fig. 4) trained with the vehicle and usage data (e.g. via historical vehicle records), a required maintenance operation, and outputting 740 an indication of the requirement to cause initiation of the maintenance operation. Optionally, the operation is performed 750. The requirement may indicate user-performability, the vehicle component, duration, or a schedule of the operation, as well as indicate parts or consumables required for the operation. Training the model comprises obtaining vehicle and usage data from vehicles and determining requirements for maintenance operations associated with sets of vehicle data, e.g. by determining a similarity between vehicle data for each vehicle and rules each being indicative of a maintenance operation. The model is then trained for determining the requirements dependant on the sets of vehicle and usage data.
