A device which allows aircraft to land on a runway when the landing gear fails to engage, by providing a smooth decrease in the movement of the aircraft and absorbs some of the impact of the aircraft during landing. The device comprises a rotating upper disc 1 that has a slope which creates a centrifugal force when spun, which retains the aircraft on the slope after the aircraft has landing on the disc. The upper disc is made from moveable sections (23, fig 7) that are raised by hydraulic cylinders (26, fig 7) within the device to alter the inclination of the upper disc. The upper disc is rotated by a lower driving disc 2 that uses electromagnets 4 to rotate the upper disc and to create a magnetic cushion between the two discs to reduce the impact of the aircraft as it lands on the upper disc. The upper disc rotates at the equivalent speed of the aircraft, and once the aircraft lands on the upper disc, the speed of the disc decreases. The upper disc may incorporate fire extinguishers (8, fig 5) that are regulated by sensors and controlled automatically.
