A vehicle charging arrangement 10 includes at least one substantially elongate charging conductor 14 for connecting with a charge-receiving conductor 13 on a vehicle 12, the charging conductor 14 being attached to a movable mount 20 allowing bidirectional movement of the charging conductor towards, and away from, a vehicle charging zone. The elongate charging conductor 14 has at least one end portion 18a, 18b forming a continuation of the charging conductor 14 and extending away from the vehicle charging zone, for forcing the charging conductor 14 in a direction away from the vehicle charging zone when the charge receiving conductor 14 moves in a plane perpendicular to the direction towards, and away from, the charging zone, from a position adjacent the end portion 18 of the charging conductor 14 towards a position adjacent an inner portion 16 of the charging conductor 14. In a separate embodiment, a vehicle charge-receiving arrangement includes a charge-receiving conductor 13 mounted to the vehicle 12 via an insulating spacer which is pivotable with respect to the vehicle 12 for allowing movement of the charge-receiving conductor 13 between a charging position and a stowed position.
