A vehicle has a marking program configured to mark another vehicle as capable of communication with other vehicles or infrastructure (V2X) or not (standard), and a reaction program which generates a signal based on the mark. The marking program may compare a sensed location of another vehicle to a recorded location of that vehicle. The marking program may download driving properties of a vehicle identified as V2X or measure driving properties of a vehicle identified as standard. The reaction program may determine a braking rate based in part on the mark, and the generated signal may control the acceleration or braking means. The reaction program may send electronic instructions to a V2X vehicle or visual signals to a standard vehicle. A planning program, which builds and uses a traffic database of driving properties of either type of vehicle to generate traffic plans to avoid a traffic collision, may be provided.
