A propeller blade 18 spanning radially from a root 32 to a tip 34 and spanning axially from a leading edge 36 to a trailing edge 38 forming a set of airfoil sections 56 (see figures 3A-3D) there between, wherein a sweep line 62 (spline fitted through points along the chord line 46) comprises at least one inflection point 59 at which the sweep line 62 changes between being concave and convex. The blade 18 may define an S-shaped planform. The inflection point 59 may be located in the inner region I between the blade root 32 and fifty percent of total blade length L. The propeller blade 18 may have a waived trailing edge 38, a straight spar structure 54, and a variable sweep angle (see figure 5A) ranging from fifty to ninety degrees. The highly swept portion may reduce propeller noise. The blade 18 may comprise a backward swept section inner region, which may increase efficiency. The leading edge 36 at the blade spinner coupling may be rearwardly angled (see figure 5B), which may enhance spinner to propeller blade airflow. The propeller may be utilized on aircraft, watercraft, wind turbines, etc.
