An ejection handle separation system 300 includes an ejection seat handle 302, a rotatable component 306, a cable 304 connected to the handle 302 and coupled to the rotatable component 306, and a handle separation device configured to release the handle in response to a trigger. The rotatable component 306 rotates in response to pulling the ejection seat handle 302, and there may be an anchor 312 inserted into the rotatable component 306 and configured to releasably connect the cable 304 to the rotatable component 306. The anchor may detonate to release the cable. The separation of seat handle 302 from the ejector seat occurs to reduce the potential for arm flail injuries. Other ejection handle separation systems are disclosed including a system with a stationary component with a first and second state wherein the second state allows the handle to be released [Fig 8], a cutter or blade fired by ballistic charge [Fig 4] or a pin or bolt assembly [Fig 5].
