Fire restricting apparatus 1 for (e.g. electric or hydrogen) vehicles has a container 10 with a ramp 12 that in a raised orientation forms a seal, a water tank 20, and a delivery means 30 for delivering water from the tank 20 to a vehicle in the container 10. There can be a spray means 32, and/or a flooding means 34 which can be automatically selected following detection of a fire, or by user input. A floor 15 can have a sump 70 and a return conduit 71. Height of water may be selected, and may be in the range 0.2 – 0.6m. A top of container 10 may be open to the atmosphere, optionally with a removable flexible fireproof cover. The apparatus 1 can be removably mounted to a goods vehicle.
